Alex Corner
I am a Senior Lecturer in the computer science subject group at Sheffield Hallam University and am the local representative for the London Mathematical Society.
Previously I received an MMath degree in 2012 and completed a PhD in 2017, both at the University of Sheffield under the supervision of Nick Gurski.
While my job focuses on teaching and being in the classroom, I maintain research interests in category theory and mathematics pedagogy in higher education. I am particularly interested in monoidal categories, higher categories, and operads.
When I'm not teaching or trying to do research, I tend to be running on the fells of the Peak District or Wales, and ticking various lists of hills: the current focus is the Welsh Nuttalls.
